Donald Trump’s Gulf of Tonkin

By Richard Cameron

Donald Trump has (as could be easily predicted),

succumbed to the worst facets of his lack of impulse control and used cooked intel to “wag the dog” in Syria, ordering the launch of $100 million worth of cruise missiles. Some I have heard, pass this off as a “muscle flexing” exercise. To me, that translates as a foolish gesture that deceives no one but his most ardent (but diminishing) supporters.

Incidentally, Foreign Policy magazine – a respected journal, not some fly-blown clickbait “alternate facts” site, is reporting that within hours of the strike on the airfield, Syrian Air Force Sukhoi SU-22 jets are flying sorties from that airport we hit with 58 missiles!

Syrian fighter aircraft used the just-struck al-Shayrat airfield on Friday to launch attacks against regime opponents, less than 24 hours after the United States tossed dozens of missiles at the base with the hopes of sending a “message” to the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad about its use of chemical weapons.

I had heard of some members of the U.S. military and intelligence insiders, speaking off the record, that have concluded, based on information they’ve examined, that the event was a false flag staged by the laughably named “moderate rebels” to derail the peace negotiations in Geneva.

They also ask us to consider what possible motive Assad could have at this point when he is consolidating control of the country, to execute such a bizarre act, which would be completely against his interests. The terrorists in control of Khan Shaykhun – had and have, opportunity, means and motive. And as far as the sorties the Syrian AF has been flying – one could use intelligence based on any takeoff, flyover and return, to conclude that there is a tie in to an atrocity within one of the provinces.

We executed airstrikes in Mosul in a neighborhood that had NO Islamic State presence – just civilians and 200 non-combatants were killed. Babies and small children were among the victims. And this was just a ripple in a pond. We’re not making anything better over there, unless you think dropping cluster bombs on schools and hospitals in Yemen is an improvement.

One of the reports that I have discovered, is most revealing and it is this from retired D.I.A. (Defense Intelligence Agency) analyst, Colonel Patrick Lang:

“Donald Trump’s decision to launch cruise missile strikes on a Syrian Air Force Base was based on a lie.  In the coming days the American people will learn that the Intelligence Community knew that Syria did not drop a military chemical weapon on innocent civilians in Idlib. Here is what happened.

  1. The Russians briefed the United States on the proposed target. This is a process that started more than two months ago. There is a dedicated phone line that is being used to coordinate and deconflict (i.e., prevent US and Russian air assets from shooting at each other) the upcoming operation.
  2. The United States was fully briefed on the fact that there was a target in Idlib that the Russians believes was a weapons/explosives depot for Islamic rebels.
  3. The Syrian Air Force hit the target with conventional weapons. All involved expected to see a massive secondary explosion. That did not happen. Instead, smoke, chemical smoke, began billowing from the site. It turns out that the Islamic rebels used that site to store chemicals, not sarin, that were deadly. The chemicals included organic phosphates and chlorine and they followed the wind and killed civilians.
  4. There was a strong wind blowing that day and the cloud was driven to a nearby village and caused casualties.
  5. We know it was not sarin. How? Very simple. The so-called “first responders” handled the victims without gloves. If this had been sarin they would have died. Sarin on the skin will kill you. How do I know? I went through “Live Agent” training at Fort McClellan in Alabama.

There are members of the U.S. military who were aware this strike would occur and it was recorded. There is a film record. At least the Defense Intelligence Agency knows that this was not a chemical weapon attack. In fact, Syrian military chemical weapons were destroyed with the help of Russia.

This is Gulf of Tonkin 2. How ironic. Donald Trump correctly castigated George W. Bush for launching an unprovoked, unjustified attack on Iraq in 2003. Now we have President Donald Trump doing the same damn thing. Worse in fact. Because the intelligence community had information showing that there was no chemical weapon launched by the Syrian Air Force.

Here’s the good news. The Russians and Syrians were informed, or at least were aware, that the attack was coming. They were able to remove a large number of their assets. The base the United States hit was something of a backwater. Donald Trump gets to pretend that he is a tough guy. He is not. He is a fool.

This attack was violation of international law. Donald Trump authorized an unjustified attack on a sovereign country. What is even more disturbing is that people like Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, CIA Director Mike Pompeo and NSA Director General McMaster went along with this charade. Front line troops know the truth. These facts will eventually come out. Donald Trump will most likely not finish his term as President. He will be impeached, I believe, once Congress is presented with irrefutable proof that he ignored and rejected intelligence that did not support the myth that Syria attacked with chemical weapons.

It should also alarm American taxpayers that we launched $100 million dollars of missiles to blow up sand and camel shit. The Russians were aware that a strike was coming. I’m hoping that they and the Syrians withdrew their forces and aircraft from the base. Whatever hope I had that Donald Trump would be a new kind of President, that hope is extinguished. He is a child and a moron. He committed an act of war without justification. But the fault is not his alone. Those who sit atop the NSC, the DOD, the CIA, the Department of State should have resigned in protest. They did not. They are complicit in a war crime.”

Inside a Donald Trump Rally …

Editor’s Note:

A Facebook friend posted the following account of a surreptitious visit to a Donald Trump rally by a couple of fellows – Seth Quackenboss and Jordan Ray Correll,  who attended the rally out of curiosity and to cross it off their bucket list. I decided to post it here, because I couldn’t share it on Twitter in the form she posted it in.  It tells it’s own story and pretty much matches what I imagined goes on at these. A lot of ugliness, and not all of it is Trump’s fluorescent Orange grill and Yellow combover…

 photo Seth and Jordan_zpsqib1qadb.jpg

“We decided to drive down to Fayetteville in order to hear a certain orange politician speak. We went to a Donald Trump rally.

Now, I am not a supporter of Mr. Trump in any way, shape, or form. I’m quite inclined to a certain berning sensation that I’ve been experiencing for some time. But that’s beside the point. The point is, we thought that we were in for a time of jokes and hilarity. And at the beginning, it was. There were a few speakers before Trump came out and they were not well organized at all. They were comical. One man, a veteran, said that he had shed blood on 7 continents. And unless I missed the great Antartica War, I highly doubt that’s true…

One speaker also said that we needed to get rid of 911 calls and we all need to handle our problems ourselves. Well…that’s highly unlikely. I can’t imagine that people will start forgoing 911 calls when their house in burning down in order to try and extinguish the fire themselves. But, ya know, it’s a nice thought.

So, those were laughable moments. Trump was about to come out. We had our signs ready. We were going to go all out. Yelling and screaming and whatnot. Because, why else were we there if not to join the spectacle? He comes out. People go crazy. For the first twenty to thirty minutes I sat there with high expectations of hilarity. After half an hour, my feelings turned extremely grim. I was scared and upset.

Trump basically said the same few things the whole time. He knows exactly what will get a cheer from the crowd and he says it. He mentioned his wall several times. About five or six if I can remember correctly. At one point he said,

We’re going to build a wall. And who’s going to pay for it?

And the crowd yelled,

Mexico!

and then they lost their minds. Now, we all know exactly why this is stupid. So I won’t elaborate. It was just very unsettling. He mentioned ISIS several times. About ten. But not exactly how to stop ISIS. Just comments like,

We’re gonna get ISIS,” and “ISIS is going down.

Blanket statements. He did say that for America to win again (any sort of winning, not just against ISIS) we have to go outside of the law and he isn’t afraid to do it. And that’s unsettling for several reasons. But I’m just reporting the facts.

And that was all he said on policy. Completely void of content or substance. Just statements that would get the crowd cheering.

Now, let’s talk about the protesters. There were many. I think throughout the hour long rally, there were roughly 15-20 groups of protesters. Some of them were individuals and some were in groups. They popped up throughout the rally here and there. And some of them were yelling and causing a ruckus but some of them were just standing there with their anti-Trump shirts or their pro-whoever else shirts. They were ALL removed. Peaceful or violent. One man had a shirt that said,

Love is the answer.

He was thrown out. Trump’s comment was,

“And love is very important but I mean, who’s making love to THAT guy?”

My stomach churned. A few minutes later, a woman stood up not far from where the other man was and starting protesting. She was removed. Trump’s comment was,

“he was with the other guy. They’re actually a couple. A [clears throat] beautiful [gagging noises] couple.”

And the crowd laughed and cheered. It was horrifying.

But out of everything I saw, the crowd was the worst part. I have never seen more hateful people in my life. Everyone was just filled with so much hatred. If a protester had a sign, even the peaceful ones, they would take the sign from them, rip it up, and throw it back at the protesters. Whenever a protester would get removed, the crowd would yell horrible things. Once, after a protester was removed, Trump said,

Where are these people coming from? Who are they?

A lady, sitting not 5 feet from me, said,

Well hopefully when you’re president, you’ll get rid of em all!

Get rid of them?  Get rid of anyone who opposes Trump?  It was sickening. I felt truly nauseous. And these people loved the protesters. They loved the drama and the chaos. And Trump fed upon it. It was easily one of the strangest and uncomfortable things I’ve ever witnessed. I could just hear the horrible things being spoken around me and it made my skin crawl.

Needless to say, there was very little laughter on my part. I thought this was going to be joke…and it was, but for a very different reason. I implore you, if you’re thinking about voting for Trump, reconsider. You are only promoting chaos and hatred. I witnessed it firsthand. And trust me, this is not something you want to see in person.

This is not what you want to happen to our country.

FBR 1-15-16 Trump and Cruz Gloves Off

 photo Trump Cruz_zpshyxctegy.jpg
“The thrill is gone … the thrill is gone away for good.”

Just some quick hits from last night’s Fox Business Channel GOP Presidential debate …

New York Values

So Ted Cruz’ comments earlier in the day about “New York Values”, gave Trump an opportunity to pounce on his main opponent – as if he needs an excuse.  Ted Cruz, when asked by the Fox panelist, Maria Bartiromo, to explain the expression, defined it in these terms:

And listen, there are many, many wonderful, wonderful working men and women in the state of New York. But everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro- gay-marriage, focus around money and the media.

Cruz, went on to make another interesting observation about Donald Trump and his lack of a consistent track record as a conservative:

Not too many years ago, Donald did a long interview with Tim Russert. And in that interview, he explained his views on a whole host of issues that were very, very different from the views he’s describing now.  And his explanation — he said, “look, I’m from New York, that’s what we believe in New York. Those aren’t Iowa values, but this is what we believe in New York.” And so that was his explanation.

Then Trump went on a trip down memory lane, pulling out the bloody shirt of 9/11. This is not a tactic anyone should be surprised at. Many Republicans resort to using 9/11 and the memory of the victims for the purpose of scoring political points – especially with people who are the most disposed to exchange civil liberties for a counterfeit and elusive promise of “security”. More on that later. But a couple of points should be made here:

  • Cruz, was in fact – as he defined it, referring to the prevailing political environment in New York City, not farmers or small business people elsewhere in the state. And, for what it is worth, the political environment in NYC is dominated by Democrats and their values. Mayor Giuliani, is yes, a “Republican” – a certain sort of Republican – a “Centrist” and that is the limit as far as Republicans go in that city. I like Rudy as a man, but he’s not a conservative. Then, after that came a real fraud with an “R” behind his name – Bloomberg. It was the next step in the evolution away from anything remotely resembling what most of the country associates with the GOP. He was so far out of step, with even the watered down neoGOP that he eventually dumped the party altogether. And now NYC is in its’ comfort zone with Democrat Bill DeBlasio. So really, how far off is Cruz in his assessment?
  • Trump talked about the city coming together after the towers came down. Fair enough. I don’t dispute that there are a lot of people who vote Democrat and are liberals that are also decent people. But reality check here. Most of what we associate with the response to 9/11 – the bravery and heroism – is that which came from the ranks of the public service sector – Firefighters, Paramedics, Policemen and Emergency room doctors and nurses.  Go to any large Democrat city – Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and you can find sensible, sober minded public safety professionals – and they are the glue that holds everything together. I know, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of them professionally. They weren’t the element that Ted Cruz was referring to and Donald Trump knew it.

I will write a follow up to this column, touching on some of the other interesting episodes that took place last night – including the vigorous back and forth between Christie and Rubio, but for now I’ll conclude with another observation about the main card, the Cruz-Trump fisticuffs. The gloves are off between the two. As one headline observed, the “bromance” is on the rocks.

Natural Born Nothingburger …

The topic of Natural Born Citizen was inevitable. Trump, losing momentum in Iowa – had to go there – he frankly admitted it. The first thing that was obvious about this debate, is that Trump no longer owns the audience in attendance. You could tell that it was split mostly between Cruz supporters and Trump supporters. In the first debate, that wasn’t the case.

What this tells you, is a couple of things. One is that the momentum is shifting away from Trump. It also demonstrates that Cruz has a very robust campaign operation in both the early states and throughout the country. He is mobilizing his grassroots through an effective organizational structure. When Cruz came back with this, there was a huge positive response in the auditorium:

And I recognize — I recognize that Donald is dismayed that his poll numbers are falling in Iowa. But the facts and the law here are really quite clear. Under longstanding U.S. law, the child of a U.S. citizen born abroad is a natural-born citizen.  If a soldier has a child abroad, that child is a natural-born citizen. That’s why John McCain, even though he was born in Panama, was eligible to run for president.

If an American missionary has a child abroad, that child is a natural-born citizen. That’s why George Romney, Mitt’s dad, was eligible to run for president, even though he was born in Mexico.

At the end of the day, the legal issue is quite straightforward, but I would note that the birther theories that Donald has been relying on — some of the more extreme ones insist that you must not only be born on U.S. soil, but have two parents born on U.S. soil.

Under that theory, not only would I be disqualified, Marco Rubio would be disqualified, Bobby Jindal would be disqualified and, interestingly enough, Donald J. Trump would be disqualified.

Later, Ted Cruz explained to the audience just who the Constitutional Scholar, Lawrence Tribe at Harvard is – a Democrat partisan and a dyed in the wool liberal. And that fits a general narrative that is gaining traction. Donald Trump, for reasons best explained by political opportunism, resorts to any sources he can exploit, not only for political alliances – as he has in the past with the Clintons, but for weapons he can wield against his opponents.

Cruz, if he so desired, can pull all sorts of Constitutional scholars out of his hat, both conservative and liberal, that espouse the sensible and realism based view that Ted Cruz in qualified by law to become President. In fact, a couple of examples are Ilya Shapiro of the CATO Institute, Judge Andrew Napolitano and on the liberal side of jurisprudence, Professor Emeritus, Alan Dershowitz, one of Ted Cruz’ teachers at Harvard.

The back and forth on this subject will go a long way toward removing the fear factor that Trump and some of the other campaigns have been attempting to inject into it. Ben Carson was asked his opinion after the debate, whether he believed Ted Cruz is eligible to be president and his answer was “Sure, absolutely”.  He has responded to the issue elsewhere, saying:

“It seems to me like the rules are fairly well-specified in terms of who qualifies to be a natural born.  If your parent is a citizen of the United States, and you’re born on foreign soil, you are still an American citizen. And that has always been the case as far as I know. One of my children was born on foreign soil and they’re a natural born citizen.”

OK, Ben Carson is not a Constitutional Scholar, but he is an intelligent, practical, reasonable man, with plenty of motivation to pile on to the false NBC (Natural Born Citizen) narrative on Cruz – but he refuses to. This says a lot of good things about Ben Carson, who is losing most of his Iowa support to Ted Cruz.

Don’t be surprised to see Carson, if and when he drops out of the contest, gravitating towards Ted Cruz’ campaign. Both are class acts, and both have wisely resisted the temptation to indulge in negative campaigning against the rest of the GOP field.

Only thing needed in this movie title is the word “Natural”

Hello Everyone,

First FBR post for the year and trying to get back in the saddle again after a nifty New Year’s Winter cold of which I am at the tail end. It’s not to say I have been entirely idle. I just published a critique of Donald Trump and Marco Rubio’s failed tactic to inflame the Natural Born Citizen fetishists over nonsensical questions about Senator Ted Cruz’ eligibility to be sworn in as the next President of the United States of America and legally occupy the Oval Orifice. It was also posted on Terresa Monroe-Hamilton’s blog page, NoisyRoom.net.

It has gone over very successfully over on RedState, where I published it and I even have fans of the column defending me of falsely accusing Marco Rubio of being the mastermind of the NBC question in this week’s news cycle. That’s always nice. I actually pointed out in my piece, that Rubio and his campaign have been fastidious in keeping his fingerprints off of the narrative that Donald Trump actually started. Rubio, instead, is employing John McCain as a ‘cat’s paw’.

cat’s-paw   also cats·paw (kats’pô’)
n. pl. cat’s-paws also cats·paws
1. A person used by another as a dupe or tool.

I think the phrase ‘tool’, is quite apt to describe John McCain as well as Marco Rubio. They are both a couple of tools. None that I would lug to a job site, but tools nonetheless.

Let’s see, what else is going on .. .

There is a movie that will be debuting next week from Paramount Pictures, called “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi”. I became FB friends with a gentleman who was a consultant to the producer of that film, Michael Bay. His name is Kris “Tanto” Paronto.

Not only is Kris a consultant to the production of the film, but he is also portrayed in the film as one of the six courageous men assigned by GRS (Global Response Staff), from the CIA Annex who launched a rescue operation of the ‘Special Mission Compound’ while Hillary Clinton, Barack Hussein Obama, Leon Panetta and the entire White House sat on their hands and did nothingBusiness Insider describes GRS:

This paramilitary unit, comprised of “scorpions” — the most lethal of American military special operators — is responsible for protecting covert agents and classified drone sites in countries like Yemen, Lebanon, Pakistan and Libya (surely among other unnamed places).

Of his role in assisting the filmmaker, Kris, former Army Ranger with the 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment, had this to say to the New York Post:

“We wanted it apolitical. From the time we got the call to the time the last [CIA Global Response Staff member] got out of Benghazi 13 hours later, it was a story of heroism. That was getting lost in the politics of it all.” Politicians hijacked it. The right use it, the left use it, and the true story got lost. The truth isn’t political. Now, the truth may affect political aspirations, but hey, sorry, that’s how it goes. We want people to know the true story, and if they want to use it as a determination of candidates, we can’t stop that. But we’re not going to get up there and say, ‘You should pick this person.’ ”

I think Kris is right. The facts that this film demonstrates, will resonate on their own and will need no external political narrative to render a conclusion in the mind of the viewer. Just watching the trailer for this movie has my pulse racing faster.

The report I wrote titled, “How Ambassador Stevens Really Died And Why Hillary Clinton Is Still Responsible” – is, as I told Kris, not only the most read of all the columns on Blasted Fools that I have written to date, but the traffic on it has been ticking up in web searches in the lead up to the opening of the “13 Hours” film.

The film doesn’t deal specifically with the last hours of Ambassador Stevens, but I think a lot of people are searching for facts, not fiction. A friend who attended a personal speaking event by Kris Paranto, relayed to me that his talk about the “13 Hours” in question, confirmed the research that I had incorporated into my outline. That was very gratifying, given the fact that my outline of the details regarding Ambassador Stevens’ final hours and death, were strongly at odds with a lot of fallacious internet memes that have been in wide circulation since 9/11/12.

Just as the rotten bunch of vermin, (political elites, the ruling class, Islamic extremists, economic predators, etc.), who are fornicating up our nation and the world at large, are termed by me as “Filthy Bilge Rats” – warriors and gentlemen who are at the tip of the spear in resisting them are reverenced here as “Anti – Filthy Bilge Rats”. Ranger Paranto is a vermin exterminator. A “Scorpion” is an apt description as well.  I therefore salute him.

Thank you, Kris.

In a further manifestation of the moral sickness

plaguing American politicians and elected officials, the Mayor of Philadelphia is telling us not to believe either the shooter who attempted to kill Philadelphia PD Officer Jesse Hartnett, or our lying eyes – about whether the execution style attempted killing was an Islamic motivated act of violence (Jihad).

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney stated in a press conference on Friday afternoon, following an attempted execution by a man who had reportedly pledged to the Islamic State, “It has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith.” But the jihadi said he did it for Islam.

As Pamela Geller asks, “How much is the Mayor getting paid from our enemies? How much jihad money financed his campaign?”

The Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross also feigns cluelessness in order to stay in step with the Mayor for whom de-Nile is not just a river in Egypt.  Ross, who just took office Tuesday, didn’t label the shooting a terrorist attack, though he said Archer “clearly gave us a motive.”  Say whaaaaaaat?  A guy shouts “Allahu Akbar” and claims allegiance to ISIS and it is NOT a terror attack??????

“It wasn’t like laying it out completely, chapter and verse for us,” Ross told reporters at the department’s headquarters as Archer was being questioned upstairs. “We’re left to say, ‘OK, he’s leaving a trail for us. Where’s it going to lead us, if anywhere?’

Please Commissioner Ross, cut me a slice of break here! As I see it, the perp – Edward Archer, his gun, and the bullets that nearly killed the officer all agree that it was an attempted murder prompted by Islam. So does a video I’ll take their word over the Mayor’s, thank you very much.

Donald Trump, a week ago, complained that he’s not being offered Secret Service protection.

“I want to put them on notice because they should have a liability,” he said. “Personally, I think if Obama were doing as well as me he would’ve had Secret Service [earlier]. I have by far the biggest crowds.”  “They’re in no rush because I’m a Republican. They don’t give a s—,” Trump said jokingly, before clarifying. “Of course I don’t think they’d want anything to happen. But I would think they should be very proactive and want protection for somebody like me that has 20,000 people at any time.”

At the time I commented that with the Secret Service in disarray and low morale combined with incompetent leadership, maybe Trump would be better off ponying up the jack to buy his own security. Maybe some ex-Israeli Defense Force guys. Plenty of them have firms in Manhattan and other cities in the U.S. and they are the best of the best. Besides that, Trump is always talking about cutting the taxpayers a slice of break. Why sponge off the federal dime even if you are “entitled”, Donny?

As it turned out, I was more correct that I thought – which is most often the case. Here’s the straight poop from the Washington Post, who normally would rather attend a strychnine tasting event than admit that the feds are incompetent:

A federal watchdog on Thursday sent the U.S. Secret Service a formal warning that its overworking of employees is jeopardizing security — citing the discovery that two Secret Service officers were asleep at their posts, according to three government officials familiar with the findings.

The inspector general who oversees the Secret Service issued a management alert, a formal designation that indicates investigators have found a problem so urgent or sweeping that it requires swift attention from senior management.

“This alert describes officer safety issues that may pose an immediate or potential danger to U.S. Secret Service officers and those whom they protect,” the inspector general’s alert says. “We are concerned that the Secret Service’s staffing and scheduling process does not ensure that officers receive adequate breaks while on duty and time off between shifts.”  The management alert stems from a routine check this August of alarms and communication equipment at facilities protected by the Secret Service, the three officials said.

In the wake of radio failures when a fence-jumper got inside the White House in September 2014, auditors with the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General rode around to various sites with Secret Service staff. They found one officer at an embassy post and another stationed at the White House complex who appeared to be asleep while on duty.

Hey Ronald the Donald – be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. This just in. Trump and Carson will get their Secret Service flunkies as reported by the New York Daily News and Newsmax.

Is Trump truly inevitable?

There’s a great deal of discussion among potential voters of the conservative persuasion (myself included), speculating on the Donald Trump juggernaut. Is it unstoppable? Even the media spends an inordinate amount of time on the subject. I hear it coming loudly in the periphery of my hearing from the loft, where my dear 95 year old father in law, uses CNN as ambient noise for a good portion of the day.

Yes, I know exposing a senior to CNN is considered a form of elder abuse, but I’m too cheap to cough up the money for the next cable tier that has Fox News. You see, in red state areas, the cable providers know that more often than not, they can extort extra money from tea party people to get FN. I won’t knuckle under.

But back to McDonald – tea party “happy meal” that is bound to make them ill at some point.  A friend of mine on FB, first name Ed, with whom I habitually banter and spar, replied with this outstanding and pithy outline of why Trump is not exactly the fait accompli that many suppose he is. I couldn’t improve on it, so here it is verbatim. Thanks, Ed:

a. polling suggests that Trump voters are far less likely to vote in Republican primaries and caucuses than republicans who support other candidates;

b. polling also shows that Trump has fairly high negatives among Republican voters, which suggests that there is a low ceiling to his potential support that is probably below 50%. While this does not matter when there are 15 candidates in the contest, it will matter when the field is winnowed down to 3 or 4 candidates;

c. Iowa is a caucus state, and local organization and a good “get out the vote” operation is key to victory. If 2008 and 2012 is any guide, the candidate who can get the support of the religious right is most likely to do well in the Iowa caucuses. And based on interviews with local political pros, as of today, Ben Carson is far better organized than Trump among Iowa’s religious right voters;

d. New Hampshire Republicans, many of whom are former residents of “Taxachusetts,” are typically more anti-tax than the average Republican voter. They may not respond well to the idea that Trump has expressed support for increasing taxes on the wealthy.

The only item that I thought might not be a prime factor, was the one above, labeled (d) – but it is possible that Ed understands the situation on the ground in NH better than I.

This week,

I released the first in a series of composite narratives about people in America who rely on their 2nd Amendment freedom, not only to defend the Constitution from critical mass tyranny, but as a practical matter of daily security. They will be the folks that will resist the plans of the gun confiscating crowd perhaps most fiercely. My concept here, is that if you happen to be in a group of people and the discussion turns to firearms and the pros and cons of gun freedom – the most effective argument is the experiences of real people.

I put the brakes on one individual, who said she thought a longer waiting period for the background check was a good idea. Not surprisingly, this was a New England lass. I said, “suppose that a woman has a man – a potentially violent man, stalking her and is threatened with rape or physical assault. How much longer should she have to wait?” … crickets.

If you haven’t read it yet – here’s a link to the column. Let me know if you’d like to see more:

Some of my readers…

will know who Marine Le Pen is and some won’t. For those of you who don’t – you should get to know her. Aside from Nigel Farage of England’s UKIP (United Kingdom Independent Party) and Geert Wilders, Dutch anti-Islamic immigration politician and the founder and leader of the Party for Freedom (Partij voor de Vrijheid – PVV); Ms. Le Pen is the leader of the French nationalist political party – the National Front (FN), the third-largest political party in France.

Le Pen is also the leader in France against the Islam-ization of her country, and as a result, has come under attack by the national Socialist government of Francois Hollande and his administration. The Hollande administration, uses militant Muslim proxies to file charges against Ms. Le Pen on hate speech charges.

The most recent event, detailed here, is remarkable because, even though Ms. Le Pen has been dragged into court, even the government’s prosecutor is telling the judicial panel in the case that charges should be dismissed, on the basis that Marine Le Pen has not violated any law!

Elections are coming up in France, and Ms. Le Pen’s political enemies want her spending her days in court instead of out on the campaign trail. With any luck – maybe we can flip that paradigm here in America and use it against a genuine menace to our body politic and system of government – Hillary Clinton. Hmmmmmmmmmm.
